Rest of Your Life: Day1

Video Game, Play Time: 9min, 2026

This video game is based on the true story of a mother and child who defected from East to West Berlin through an underground tunnel during the Cold War in 1962.

The player crawls through Tunnel 29 while carrying a child on their back as a guardian. In imagining the people who crossed the border at a time when freedom of speech and movement were suppressed, what emerged was the simple act of “moving forward toward West Berlin.”

The joystick on a game controller is modeled on a child's hand. By holding the joystick, the viewer moves forward as if they were a protector holding their hand.

It also focuses on children and their protectors, whose presence is often overlooked in discussions of war.
